The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the City of Zurich, Switzerland, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 20 April 2026, at the Ministryโs Conference Hall in Thimphu.
The signing ceremony was attended by a nine-member delegation from the City of Zurich led by the Mayor, and officials from the Ministry led by the Honโble Secretary and Bumthang Dzongkhag led by the Dzongdag.
The MoU marks the continuation of a long-standing collaboration between the two parties, building on the 2013 Bumthang Valley Master Plan. It aims to strengthen cooperation in sustainable spatial planning, urban development, and integrated infrastructure systems.
The partnership will focus on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and technical collaboration, particularly in addressing priority infrastructure needs and enhancing coordinated planning in Bumthang Valley.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting sustainable, resilient, and well-planned human settlements.
